5 Things I Learned From My Mother
Today is my mother’s day. Well, part one…It’s her birthday!!
Happy Birthday, Mom! Thank you for being my rock.
Thank you for supporting me, cheering me on, helping me find solutions, laughing through the pain and crying through miracles. I couldn’t be where I am in life without your unwavering love!
My mother has a strength like no other, and I am blessed to have a warrior in my corner that knows how to pray me through. As time has gone by, my mom and I have been able to share some amazing intimate moments that has me in awe about her journey in life.
My mother has Pulmonary Hypertension, but you probably would never know it! She fought and prayed for a life that doctors thought she wouldn’t have past her twenties, and I honestly believe knowing my mother’s journey has pushed me to keep going beyond any circumstance I may have in my life.
If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting my mother, you know she makes everyone feel warm and usually has some type of advice waiting for you. In honor of my mom’s birthday, here are the 5 things I learned from her:
5 Things I Learned From My Mother
-
Prayer works! This is your first defense. Make sure you keep that line of communication open with “go to” Bible verses to support what you know is true.
-
Doctors are just practicing. You are going to have to find some answers out for yourself. Learn your body and do your own research. Both you and your doctor have to put in work.
-
A smile can turn pain into purpose. There is a reason you may be going through something, and it may be for the solo reason of helping someone else behind you. Don’t discount anything you go through.
-
Family is the most important thing in life. This is your foundation, and no matter that’s who will be in corner. Don’t forget to cherish the time spent because it is not promised to be the same tomorrow.
-
A “no” is never the end of the story. It may just be a pause for reflection. Keep fighting for what you know is yours in life! Baby steps add up, so keep going past road blocks in your life.
I can honestly say, I only hope to be half to mother she has been for me.
Happy Birthday to Mrs. Irreplaceable!
