Houston: Nzuri Festival & More
I had an amazing time at this year’s Nzuri Hair Festival. It was my first time speaking on a natural hair panel, and glad I got a chance to speak on the I Hear That Girl Stage! It was my first time in Houston, and of course I have so much to share with you about hair and must-do’s.
Nzuri Hair Festival
I had a great time sharing and learning about natural hair during the Nzuri Natural Hair Festival. It was two days full of great conversations, entertainment, product finds and stylish buys.
Highlight: The Mazada CX- 5 “Car Confessions” where absolutely hilarious! You can catch on the replays here.
Hair
Andre Walker’s interviews and products were a hit during the festival. Not only is he the creator of the hair typing system and Oprah’s hair stylist, he is the inventor of a “complete” product line that works wonders on both natural and relaxed hair. Based on your hair type, he has broken down the specific products you need to use on your hair and is what order.
I can’t wait to post my product review! You guys are going to love it. Click here for more information about the Andre Walker product line.
Highlight: He was surprised when I told him I was wearing a wig, which is definitely a compliment coming from a hair wiz.
Food
Of course I had to find time to explore the food in Houston. I found myself doing both good and bad, but loving every bite!!
Burger Joint
I find a cheeseburger salad that was filled with everything that comes on a burger including the side of fries.
Fuel Kitchen and Health Bar
Starting my Saturday morning here was the best decision yet. I knew I probably wasn’t going to get right throughout the weekend, so I definitely got a tasty green fix with the Mango smoothie with extra Kale.
Chrsity’s Donuts Kolaches
This was probably one of the freshest and reasonably priced donut places I have been to. It was my first time having a Kolache, and it blew my mind! I had the jalepeno sasauge and cheese, and it was gone before I could take a picture.
Highlight: On the way to the airport, I yelped Tacos nearby. I ended up on Washington Ave. where there was a taco place on each corner that I wanted to try. I ended up going to Pollo Campero, and those tacos gave me life! Next time I visit I have to try the other places near by.
