What You Need For a DIY Bar Stool

Spray Paint. I used Krylon’s Super Maxx : Metallic to get this gold look. You can find it here or at your local Home Depot.

Paint Pad. If you have some old cardboard boxes laying around this is perfect! You will need to lay it out so you don’t stain your concrete with the paint. If you don’t have and boxes, you can go to your local Home Depot for different options to protect the area you are painting in.

Screw Driver. To replace the cushion you will need to unscrew the screws from the seat cushion. This may be a little tedious with a regular screwdriver, so if you can you hands on an electric screwdriver you will love the process so much more. I love my cute tool kit my dad gave me for Christmas… It has everything I need for my DIY projects.

Colorful Fabric. I went to JoAnn’s Fabric to find this awesome material, but any look fabric store should give you amazing options and choices.

Staple Gun. You will use this when re-wrapping your bar stool cushions.

Steps for DIY Bar Stool

  1. Take It A Part! The first thing you will need to do is take apart your bar stool.
  2. Paint! Lay out your cardboard placing your bar stool in the middle and have at it. Make sure you are spraying evenly for great coverage. Let it set aside for at least 8 hours to ensure it is dry.
  3. Replace Fabric. You will first need to remove the old fabric. Using your staple gun, you will need to add your new fabric. Avoid covering the holes for the screws… It will make it a little harder to put it back together.
  4. Put It All Together! Take out the electric drill and have a little fun replacing all the screws, and then you are done.
