8 Holiday Wellness Planner Tips: Staying Mindful and Healthy

The holidays are a season of joy and connection, but they can also be overwhelming with packed schedules, endless to-do lists, and unexpected stress. Staying mindful and healthy requires intention—and a little planning. That’s why I created the Holiday Wellness Checklist, a simple guide to help you prioritize self-care, manage stress, and enjoy the season with balance.

Here are some actionable wellness planner tips, paired with the checklist, to help you take charge of your health and happiness this holiday season.

1. Set Intentions for the Holiday Season

Before diving into holiday activities, take a moment to reflect on what you truly want this season to feel like. Are you craving connection, calmness, or perhaps a little adventure?

Use the Checklist:

  • Write down 3 intentions for the holidays.
Example: “Stay present with family, drink herbal tea daily, and enjoy small moments of joy.”
  • Plan a quiet morning with tea and journaling to reflect on these intentions.

2. Plan Your Self-Care Time

The holidays can pull you in many directions, but making time for yourself is non-negotiable. Whether it’s a warm bath or a few quiet moments with a good book, scheduling self-care is key to staying balanced.

Try These Ideas from the Checklist:

  • Yoni bath or facial steam for relaxation.
  • Journaling to process thoughts and track gratitude.
  • Meditation or breathwork for calm amidst the holiday bustle.

Planner Tip: Use your planner to block out 30 minutes a day for self-care, and color-code self-care appointments in your planner so they stand out and become non-negotiable.

3. Nourish Your Body with Healing Foods

Festive treats are part of the season’s joy, but balancing them with nourishing, anti-inflammatory foods will keep your energy up and your immune system strong.

Checklist Highlights:

  • Start your day with a detox juice or herbal tea.
  • Incorporate Vitamin D-rich foods like salmon and fiber-rich cereals.
  • Make a family activity out of preparing a healthy holiday dish together.

What to Track:

  • Daily water intake.
  • Healthy snacks like nuts, fruits, and veggies.
  • Comfort meals that include immune-boosting ingredients like leafy greens, ginger, and turmeric.

Bonus Tip: Include a recipe section in your planner to jot down your favorite festive dishes, like a warm ginger tea or a healthy twist on mashed potatoes.

4. Move Your Body in Fun, Festive Ways

Movement is key to maintaining energy and reducing stress. Even 10–15 minutes a day can make a big difference during busy weeks. Use your planner to schedule workouts or fun family activities that keep you moving.

For me and my little one, ice skating during the winter months is an easy go-to! It helps me get my heart rate up and make sure he is burning off energy during the cold months.

Ideas for Holiday Fitness:

  • Morning yoga sessions to stretch and energize.
  • Family walks to admire holiday lights.
  • A quick workout before your day begins.

From the Checklist:

  • Morning or afternoon walk to soak up sunlight and Vitamin D.
  • Yoga to stretch and de-stress after a busy day.

Planner Prompt: Write down a weekly fitness goal, like “Take three brisk walks this week.”

5. Manage Holiday Stress

From hosting dinners to shopping for gifts, the holiday to-do list can feel endless. Combat stress by organizing tasks in your planner. Break larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps and prioritize what matters most.

Stress-Reducing Strategies:

  • Create a holiday to-do list and assign deadlines.
  • Include a gratitude list in your planner to focus on the positives.
  • Use mindfulness prompts to stay present during the busiest moments.

Example Prompt“What is one thing you’re grateful for today?”

6. Keep Track of Health Goals

The holidays are a great time to check in with your overall wellness. Whether it’s monitoring your vitamin D intake, tracking symptoms, or scheduling follow-ups with your doctor, your planner can keep you on top of it all.

Why It Matters:
As someone with a vitamin D deficiency, I know how vital it is to track supplements and monitor energy levels. Your planner can help you identify trends and prepare for conversations with your healthcare provider.

7. Plan Meaningful Experiences

The holiday season is about connection and joy. Use your planner to schedule meaningful outings and activities with loved ones that nurture your spirit.

For me personally, l love to plan activities early in the holiday season or during none-peak times to help keep holiday stress away.

Ideas to Include:

  • A wreath-making class with friends.
  • A family baking night.
  • Visiting local holiday markets or light displays.

Planner Tip: Leave space for reflection after each activity. Write down what you enjoyed most and how it made you feel.

8. Reflect and Reset Weekly

At the end of each week, take a moment to reflect on how you’re feeling. Use your planner to celebrate wins, identify areas for improvement, and reset your intentions for the coming week.

Reflection Prompts:

  • “What went well this week?”
  • “What challenges did I face, and how did I overcome them?”
  • “What can I do differently next week to feel more balanced?”
