How I Healed my endometriosis Pain Naturally

how i cured my endometriosis_ pink proverb_ health and wellness blog

I finally reached a place on my endometriosis journey that I never thought I would be able to obtain — I place of healing! Throughout the years, how I healed my endometriosis came in waves. It has felt like a rollercoaster ride from finding out I had this disorder to finally finding a place of consistent healing with no pain. My hope is that someone just finding out they have endometriosis reads this post and is able to fast-forward their healing.

Endometriosis Healing Methods

There is a couple of things you need to know before embarking on a healing journey with endometriosis:

  1. There is no cure for endometriosis
  2. Endometriosis looks and feels different for every individual
  3. As your body and environment change, so will your endometriosis
  4. This disorder is an inflammation imbalance, and stress is a huge factor in your healing journey

Now that we got that out of the way, the first step is getting your blood work done. This is not an automatic next step. You have to ask your doctor to do this. You can also go to a health and wellness center or a primary care doctor to get it done. The reason you want this to be your first step is because you will spend a lot of time and wasted energy doing what others say worked for them with a lack of results. The key is to make sure your body is functioning at the optimal level, and you address all deficiencies.

Vitamins and Endometriosis

A study showed that in patients with endometriosis, when vitamin E, C, selenium, and zinc were given simultaneously, there was an inverse correlation with the intensity of the disease.

For me, after getting my blood work done, I realized I needed to focus on my vitamin D levels, increasing my selenium and lowering my cortisol levels. These were all tell-tell signs that my deficiencies were directly connected to high inflammation levels in my body. High cortisol levels meant my body was in a constant fight-or-flight mode due to stress. Research has shown that reduced selenium is connected to acute and chronic inflammatory states. And, low vitamin D levels meant my body couldn’t absorb nutritional benefits from food and vitamins… No matter how many I took.

This is something I wish I had known at the beginning of my journey that could have saved me a lot of years of struggling in pain.

My Endometriosis Diet

Once you know what your body needs, it is time to find the vitamins and foods to help build you back up. And, limiting the foods and products that can cause you more harm than good.

I remember when I first started going to my OBGYN about my pain, and she suggested I drastically change my diet. Buying a whole bunch of expensive organic foods and throwing out everything that wasn’t good for me. I was so proud of myself. I felt like I was in control.

For a whole month, I only ate what was on the list of “healthy” foods my doctor gave me, thinking I was going to have a life-changing experience.

On the greens list was edamame, and I remember going to an Asian restaurant, waving off everything that came to the table, and indulging in two appetizers of it. Little did I know that edamame, aka soy, released plant estrogen in my body, which doesn’t help an estrogen-dominant disorder like endometriosis.

Needless to say, I was in more pain than the month prior, and I was back to square one.

The key to your diet is to recognize foods, oils, and products that produce estrogen and progesterone-like substances in your body. You need to understand this to determine what should and should not be in your diet.

Endometriosis and Plastic

How I healed my endometriosis my removing plastics

Special Note: Try your best to stay away from plastics. This is extremely difficult in our world, but plastics contain toxins like BPA and dioxins. Small particles of plastics that enter our body have an estrogen-like effect similar to endometriosis. They can travel all over our body and can become inflamed, causing pain.

For me, I started by avoiding warming up my food in anything plastic, and I believe that made a big difference for me. I soon moved to removing plastic cups and straws, especially when drinking something warm. Then, as I started to change my kitchenware, I made more conscious decisions to buy glass containers, replacing plastic cookware, and everything in between.

If you are looking for a specific diet, the Mediterranean diet has been proven to be a great anti-inflammatory.

Why Track What You Eat with Endometriosis

Track what you eat, making notes on how you feel after eating certain foods. With everything happening in the food industry, know that even if something is marked healthy, it may have a negative reaction in your body. It could be due to specific pesticides being used that have been linked to endometriosis and so many other factors.

Endometriosis Self Care

How I healed my endometriosis included radical self-care. When you are healing from endometriosis, you have to prioritize your personal self-care. You may be wondering what that looks like. But, it will look different for every stage of your life and different for every person. The key is to do what feels good, relieve stress, and improve your health.

SELF-CARE Ideas for An Endometriosis Journey

For me now, that looks like staying organized, asking for help on my motherhood journey, making time to journal, taking a bath with epsom salt weekly, taking 10,000 steps a day, making time to check something off my bucket list, yoni steaming, IV hydration, acupuncture, practicing healthy boundaries and saying “no”.

How Can Natural Remedies Help Healing with Endometriosis

When trying to heal endometriosis with natural remedies, you can do a lot. Try making herbal teas, take them in pill form, use tinctures, suppositories, put in a yoni steam, add to a bath, and/or add to food dishes.
