Jamaica is one of my favorite places to visit when I need a reboot. So, let’s recount my journey through this breathtaking destination and explore things to do in Negril, Jamaica, that is inspiring for any health journey.

If you are on a self-care journey, here are a few reasons why this travel experience is worth adding to your list:

Things to Do in Negril, Jamaica

Savoring Local Delights: Negril, Jamaica

One cannot visit Negril without indulging in the local cuisine. While the drive from the airport to Negril can be long, the opportunity to experience authentic food while on your way there is priceless.

My journey started with the best jerk chicken and homemade fruit bread, a mere 20 minutes outside Negril. The flavors and aromas are a testament to Jamaica’s rich culinary heritage.

The Spirit of Jamaica – Appleton Distillery

We took a tour of the Appleton Distillery, and before you say exploring alcohol is the opposite of a health travel journey, think again!

During the tour, we were able to see how molasses is made and got a chance to taste fresh molasses while there. I personally haven’t tasted any molasses like it! I have a new found appreciation for molasses and all of its health benefits after getting a chance to experience it in this way.

Knowing that rum is crafted from freshly made molasses also explains why it is one of only two types of alcohol that doesn’t make me feel bad when drinking it.

The Local Farmers’ Markets

One thing about Jamaica, the farmers market is an experience! The local produce in Jamaica is truly special, and it is worth exploring on your health journey. You will find delicious fruits that are hard to find in the U.S. that are packed with amazing health benefits.

For me, finding soursop at the local market was a must! I am completely obsessed with getting my hands on the cancer-fighting fruit. And, I had the pleasure of finding a local farmer who was selling it in front of the grocery store in town.

Make your way downtown Negril; the farmers’ markets are a treasure trove of local produce, and you won’t regret it.

Natural Wonders in Negril, Jamaica

The Black River tour showcases one of Jamaica’s longest rivers and its stunning natural surroundings, a truly serene experience. Additionally, the Y.S Falls and its mineral pool in St. Elizabeth are perfect for a refreshing dip.

Music and Beaches Seven Mile Beach

When I tell you there is no place like the beaches in Negril, there isn’t! A spirit of joy and peace flows up and down with the waves of the ocean.

Take the time to get your steps in on the beach, soak up some vitamin B, and take in everything that is flowing around you.

We ran into an artist on the beach who was pouring himself into his music, and it was the beach concert that I needed on our walk.

Walking along the beaches of Negril and soaking in the live music from local artists is an unforgettable experience, encapsulating the true spirit of Jamaican culture.

As you plan your trip to Negril, remember, it’s not just a destination, it’s an experience that nourishes the soul. From its delicious food to its natural wonders, Negril is a place where wellness and inspiration naturally intertwine.
