Our Birthing Story | 3 Things I Would Change
Birthing Story
The journey to motherhood is by far the best thing that has happened to me (You can meet Klay here!). However, labor and delivery was a journey that I wish went a little smoother! Here are my birthing video and 3 things I wish I had done differently.
Labor and delivery is different for every family. Everyone goes in with a “plan” on how they want things to go. Yet, the outcome can be drastically different then what anyone plans. And that was the case for us. I honestly thought my birthing story would be one that consisted of a natural delivery with a picture of me holding Klay close to my chest afterward. However, it was a c-section delivery with anesthesia that required me to be separated from my child for hours after delivery.
Here is my birthing story…
3 Things I Would Change
Giving birth wasn’t easy! Here are 3 things I would change about my labor and delivery if I had a chance.
- Elect for a C-Section sooner. Klay went into distress right before my water broke. As a result, he was in meconium for an extensive amount of time. I wish I would have opted for a C Section earlier on versus having him in meconium for over 10 hours.
- Induced sooner. I went into labor over a holiday weekend with neither my doctor or any another doctor in her practice available, which was extremely scary. If I had to do it all over again, I would have planned to be induced before the holiday week since I carried Klay full term.
- Get a Doula. I went through the process of finding a Doula. However, either the ones I wanted were not available or the pricing wasn’t ideal. As a got closer to my due date, I figured since I made it that far without one I would be ok. However, I wish I had a Doula during my delivery to advocate for me. Especially since my doctor wasn’t there.
